North Carolina-Tennessee AT
The NC-TN AT stretches 385.2 miles from the GA-NC border (78.5 miles) just south of Bly Gap to the TN-VA border (432.7 miles). Considered by many to be the second most difficult state(s) of the AT, if you make it to Virginia, as a general rule, you got what it takes to make it all the way.
This section of the AT is known for the Great Smoky Mountains. Like the Georgia AT, this section of the AT also crosses several significant roadways and/or forest roads making it ideal for day, overnight, and section hiking.
As I have yet to finish NC-TN section of the AT, this section will obviously be updated routinely as I continue to hike the NC-TN AT.

The hikes below are popular day hike locations because of ease of access by car and relatively short hiking distances to reaching the summit view. These popular day hikes include:
Standing Indian Albert Mountain Fire Tower Siler Bald Wayah Bald Stone Tower Cooper Ridge Bald Rocky Bald Wesser Bald Fire Tower Cheoah Bald |

Overnight/Section Hikes
The NC/TN AT also has several locations for overnight and section hikes, including:
Dicks Creek Gap (GA)* to Deep Gap, NC | 15.8 miles Deep Gap, NC to Winding Stairs Gap | 24.4 miles Winding Stairs Gap to Wayah Bald | 10.1 miles Wayah Bald to Nantahala Outdoor Center | 17.4 miles Nantahala Outdoor Center to Stecoah Gap | 13.4 miles Stecoah Gap to Fontana Dam | 15.4 miles Fontana Dam to Newfound Gap, US 441 | 40.7 miles As broken up above, each one of these starting/ending locations has parking and is fairly easily accessible except for GA-NC border. The Dicks Creek to the GA-NC must be completed as an out and back hike or as part of a longer section from Dicks Creek Gap to Deep Gap NC. |
In my hiking, I have jumped around quite a bit. I was able to take advantage of doing certain sections of the trail with other hikers which allowed us to self-shuttle and hike point to point. As a result, I did not hike the NC-TN AT in "chronological order."
I have, however, completed the entire AT south of Davenport Gap.
